Coming from a honeymoon in Cuba, Burris had rich inspiration for Spring Summer 2018. The sorbet hued buildings with crumbling facades gave inspiration for the colorful palette. A relaxed spirit runs through the collection with soft draping brims, variations of natural colored straw, and loosely knotted trims. Wide racello braid, a material used often in vintage millinery, can be seen in a boater shape, as trim on straw hats and in playful headbands.
Gigi Burris debuts a range of handmade straw handbags this season alongside the millinery. Drawing inspiration from the 1960s practice of ladies matching straw hats and handbags, SS18 offers a modern take on the summer.
